St.Columba’s take honours in first round of County Donegal Under18s Girl Schools Cup Competition
On Tuesday past, the first round of the County Donegal Under18s Girl Schools Cup Competition took place at Letterkenny RFC with teams from St. Columba’s College, Stranolar and Magh ENE College, Bundoran and two teams from Carndonagh CS taking part.
The first round of the competition was played in a four way team blitz, with each school team playing against each other, in games which lasted 10 minutes each way. The result from this leg will be carried forward to the second leg which will happen after Christmas to see who will be crowned schools cup champions
This tournament was especially good the Girls from Carndonagh and Magh Ene, as it was the first time that their schools had taken part in the girls side of the rugby cup competitions, and both schools did not look out of place with all the girls giving the best the could. But was the power and pace of the St.Columba’s team who showed through on the day. Taken victories against all the other teams and they will look forward to the second leg of the competition to see if the can be crowned Donegal Schools Cup Champions.
The Donegal Community Rugby project would like to thank all the schools and players along with their coaches for all their efforts on the day. And also a massive thank you to Letterkenny RFC for the use of their facilities.
