in new positions. The final score was 27-0 to the home
team with the majority of the scores coming from Donegal
errors. The main performances from the Donegal side

U18's defeat Omagh RFC
Report
By Francois Badenhorst
The
Donegal County U18 development squad travelled down
to Omagh for their game against Omagh Academicals on
Saturday .The game was played in wet and blustery conditions
that was always going to make the going tough. Donegal
County played into the wind in the first half and a
spirited Omagh team put them under pressure in the opening
fifteen minutes. As you would expect of a team that
does not regularly play together, Donegal County struggled
to find their feet initially. Donegal County tried to
play a passing game without establishing a solid platform
and was unable to cross the gain line effectively. This
and the aggressive Omagh defence led to turnovers at
critical times. The pressure Omagh exerted was soon
rewarded by a converted try, giving them a 7-0 lead.
Donegal County started to settle after the initial period
and started to claw their way back into the game. Good
runs by forwards and backs were starting to make inroads
and an improved defence stopped Omagh from scoring,
leaving the half time score 7-0 in Omagh’s favour.
After the brake Donegal County wisely went about gaining
some forward dominance and strong runs by the likes
of Jaryd Bennett started to put the Omagh defence under
pressure. This positive play was eventually rewarded
with a converted try by Anthony O’Callaghan. Getting
good “go forward” ball brought the Donegal
County backline more into play culminating in a converted
try by John Anthony McFadden.
The final score was 14-7 for the Donegal county Squad,
winning a tough sometimes robust game against a good
and determined Omagh side.

U17’s V Enniskillen
Report By Rory Boyle
Donegal kicked off this game with a
strong wind at their backs and immediately put the 'Skins
under pressure. For the first ten minutes of the match
both teams were attacking but neither could put points
on the board with the chances they had. With ten minutes
left of the first half, the Enniskillen Full-Back capitalised
on some missed tackles from the Donegal defence and
touched down near the posts. The Try was converted to
leave the score 7-0 in Enniskillen's favour. They scored
again a few minutes later and this was also converted
and the half-ended with the score 14-0 to Enniskillen.
Donegal started brightly in the second half against
the now swirling wind but unfortunately were caught
unawares as a quick line-out was taken by the Enniskillen
men and a try followed. The conversion was missed but
the game was slipping away as the score-line now read
19-0. Donegal fought back bravely though and were rewarded
with a try in the last ten minutes. The conversion was
agonisingly dragged to the left but the score-line looked
a little better for Donegal at 19-5. Enniskillen once
again attacked and scored with a few minutes left. A
lack of numbers out wide was the reason. At the final
whistle the scoreline read 24-5 in Enniskillen's favour.
Full marks to Enniskillen as they put in a solid performance
and came away worthy winners against a Donegal side
who played well and showed an improvement since their
last game. Donegal deserved more credit than the score
suggests as Michael Keyes and Conor Gallagher in the
Forwards and Brian Mulhern and David King in the Backs
all had great games. The team can certainly learn from
this performance and take a lot of good from it.

U’18 Girls V Enniskillen
Report
by Kelly Mc Girr
Saturday
saw the Donegal u’18 girls travel to Enniskillen
for their match against the home side. Donegal got off
to a quiet start with Enniskillen putting pressure on
and pushing back the defence. But the Donegal girls
held strong and it wasn’t long until they made
their mark on the score board with a try from Kerri-Lee
Murray. Some great offloads saw Janet Kerr take the
ball over the try line and a conversion from Elaine
Melaugh left the score 12-0 at half time.
Enniskillen came back hard in the second half with a
few good plays, but were unsuccessful in reaching the
try line. Donegal regained possession and made their
way to the try line but were forced to the corners with
both tries (Nicola Mc Ginley and Laura Feely) by a strong
Enniskillen defence. The game ended 22-0 to the Donegal
girls with strong play from Enniskillen.
