Eight Donegal Players Selected for Ulster U18 Trial
Last Sunday nine players from the County Donegal U18 Girls team were successful in selection for the Ulster U18 trial scheduled for the 12th March. The girls were selected from a trial match played last Sunday in Belfast between the West and East U17 Development Squads. The final score of 87-0 highlighted the strength of girl’s rugby in the west of Ulster and particularly Donegal where 80% of the players were from.
The players selected were Laura Kenny, Janet Kerr, (Donegal Town RFC); Kelly Mc Girr, Kerri-Lee Murray, Elaine Melaugh, Larissa Muldoon, Donna Mc Ginley, Nicola Mc Ginley, (Letterkenny RFC). Also joining the girls in the U18 trial will be Laura Feeley who is currently in the U18 Ulster squad. Unfortunate to miss out on selection were Sinead Doherty and Ciara Gallen from Letterkenny RFC.

The strength of the players in Donegal is a result of the hard work and commitment being put in at club and County level. The girls have received a great level of support from their coaches Teresa Dunne, Clodagh Mc Cool and Declan Bushell. Thanks must also go to Letterkenny RFC senior coaches Gordon Curley, Collin Farrell and Andy Monson for their input during the Donegal Academy sessions.
Good luck to the girls for their next step up the development ladder!
